The Galaxy Family Basket Farm Project

Growing Hope, Nourishing Lives

In early 2025, members of Galaxy Family Basket came together with a shared vision to create a self-sustaining project to support our humanitarian work. Out of this inspiration was born the Galaxy Family Basket Farm Project, a humble yet powerful initiative rooted in service, love, and community.

 How It All Began

The idea for the farm grew from our heartfelt desire to raise funds for one of our beneficiaries, Madam Millicent Kyerema, a resilient single mother and double amputee in need of functional prosthetic arms. Our goal was to help her regain her independence and dignity through this act of collective compassion. With the generous support of Mr. Jacob Ahatame, we secured three acres of fertile land in Kpando, located in the Volta Region of Ghana. In March 2025, we began cultivating the land, starting with maize (corn) as our first crop. Encouraged by this beginning, we later expanded by acquiring two additional acres, planting one acre of okra and one acre of pepper near the banks of the River Volta.

 Challenges and Resilience

Like every worthwhile venture, the farm has faced its share of challenges. Early on, our young okra plants were damaged by goats from nearby villages. Interestingly, this unexpected trial resolved itself when, as fate would have it, the leader of the goats passed away  and the rest stopped coming to our field. More recently, we have been battling insects attacking our crops. Yet, with perseverance, prayer, the use of environmentally safe insecticides, Every challenge has strengthened our resolve and deepened our sense of teamwork.

 Our Purpose and Vision

The primary purpose of the Galaxy Family Basket Farm is to generate income to support our outreach programs — particularly:

  • Providing prosthetic arms for Millicent and others living with physical challenges.

  • Sustaining our monthly community assistance projects.

  • Expanding our Christmas Outreach, which brings hope and essential supplies to families in need.

Beyond financial support, the farm represents our belief that every seed sown in love yields fruits of service and compassion. It is both a practical effort and a spiritual exercise transforming the energy of work into an expression of divine service.

 A Future of Shared Growth

As we nurture this land, we are also cultivating something greater a sense of shared responsibility, unity, and purpose among our members. We envision expanding the farm, diversifying our crops, and using sustainable methods to ensure that the project continues to benefit the needy for years to come.

Through the Galaxy Family Basket Farm, we reaffirm our commitment to our motto:

“Serving humanity through love, one act at a time.”
